The well-preserved cobbled town of Rudkobingby Tour Guide Fyn
Guided tour of “One of Denmark's 10 Most Beautiful Cities” (The Lancet 2025) Langeland's main town in the middle of smugglers' paradise In fact, the small market town, where about 4000 people live today, has its worth of conservation as a result of massive smuggling for hundreds of years. When much of the trade bypassed the market town, the residents became poor and could not afford to build new ones. You will join us on a city walk in Rudkøbing's picturesque town centre. A guided tour via Ramsherred and past Smedegade's many old listed houses Come visit the old medieval church Walk with the guide past the old town mill and onto the protected Fleet Have a little walk on the harbour, which was Rudkøbing's pulse City people and stories On the tour we meet some of Rudkøbing's residents through time — both the well-known and the more forgotten. You hear about the town's great sons H.C. Ørstedand Anders Sandøe Ørsted, both born here as sons of the town's pharmacists and gone down in history as national celebrities. The tour also goes into the merchant's yard, where an ordinary merchant's son, *Mads Lange, * was born in the early 1800's. After 20 years as a sailor, Mads established himself in Bali and became known as the King of Bali. We also share the little stories and anecdotes that bring the city to life: about an improbably lucky hairdresser, why the brig was called Hotel Frederiksen, the fire-soul Jens Winther, and the tragic fate of Gertrud Skomager. Art, Harbor, and the Modern Rudkøbing Finally, Rudkøbing is also home to people who have put the island and the town on the map. The internationally renowned land art artist Alfio Bonnanno is one of them. His art we pass several places on the guided tour in Rudkøbing. In the square, we meet the city's newest -- and much-discussed -- landmark: the ballet-dancing hippo, *Hippo Ballerina. * The guided tour is rounded off with a walk to the expanded harbour, Ørstedparken and the newer boroughs, where architecture and institutions tell the story of the welfare society and the contrast with the old market town. At the same time, we are looking ahead: the city, and the whole of Langeland, is entering a new era and is actively working to put the “edge identity” behind it.

Tranekær - the castle town on North Langelandby Tour Guide Fyn
From nobility and property systems to enthusiasts and visions of the future With local guide through town Step with a local guide into a unique cultural environment where Tranekær Castle reigns majestically on one of Langeland's famous hat hills. On this tour you will get the story of the Ahlefeldt—Laurvig family, which left a significant imprint over 300 years. A story of fortresses and progress, of wartime and peacetime. Today the legacy is continued with respect and new life by the Jepsen family. See the castle on Hatbakken — Denmark's oldest inhabited building. Hear the fascinating tales of entrepreneurial and eccentric families of counts. Walk through the historic castle town and experience the unique cultural environment. Get local tales and hidden details with a guide who knows the history of the city in depth. People who have left their imprint Hear the guide tell about the “General”, Christian Ahlefeldt Laurvig, who in the dark of night sent troops across the Langeland Belt during the English Wars while English warships patrolled the waters. About the Count who laid out the plague avenue so that he could avoid getting infected on his way to and from church. And who ended up dying of smallpox when a little infected boy defied the ban and ran to the count, who patted him on the head. Hear about life as a fortress farmer or servant in the County of Langeland: About the many local women who had children with Knudegreven, and aboutLudvig Antony from Sct. Croixwho was bought at a slave auction, and spent many years as a trusted servant at the castle until he was given free. The guide also tells about the exciting future of the city: since 2009, a circle of volunteers is succeeding in establishing “Medicinhaverne” as Langeland's second largest tourist attraction, and northern Europe's largest collection of medicinal plants. The wealthy Jebsen family has taken over the estate and the castle, and several exciting projects have been launched: a college for conservation-worthy crafts is in the pipeline, and together with local forces Jebsen is working to preserve the many beautiful old buildings. The irreplaceable cultural heritage of Tranekær The residents of Tranekær love their town and this can be seen in the old buildings that are carefully maintained. Guests are guided through the city and to the distinctive, rather Udanian, church. Slotsgade and the buildings around the castle are worth a story and most of the houses date from the time of the theatre-loving “Generalen”. The houses have names according to who lived in them, for example *the musician houses, the table-decker house, and the “onion” *, where the trusted servants lived. You should see the castle's strangest house, the “hen house” where the forager lived, right at the entrance to the castle park. Guests are invited to walk around the castle lake on their own in the famous Tickonparkwith land art.

Tonni Hansen's Langelandby Tour Guide Fyn
Guided bus tour with former mayor of the island From Past, to Present and Future at Langeland The tour starts at the port of Rudkøbing, where Tonni welcomes and introduces the day's program. We begin with the story of Rudkøbing as a market town, as we drive south and get a great overview of Langeland's history, landscape and special characteristics. Introduction to the history and landscape of Langeland Tale of Linjelse Nor, and the Viking Age of the area Why Langeland became part of the Unesco Geopark Anecdotes from Tonni's own upbringing on Sydlangeland Forces of Nature and the Landscapes of the Coast At Ristinge Klint we experience one of Denmark's most significant geological formations. Here we tell about the forces of the ice age and the layers that can be clearly read in the cliff. The tour continues south through a varied landscape with bird sanctuaries and flooded areas where nature has quickly reclaimed the terrain. Around Bagenkop we wet the hat hills -- characteristic Ice Age formations -- and hear about Magleby Nor, formerly drained but where the desire to carry the water back lives. In Bagenkop we stay at the port with light lunch and time for a little walk among the cozy houses and shops. The tour goes on to Keldsnor, where we look for the wild horses and hear about the area's rich bird and wildlife in the protected natural area. Manors, forts, and far-sighted zealots On the way north we tell about Langelandsfortet and about Holmegaard Refugee Center — chapters in the island's recent history. We pass the Broløkke Herregaard and hear about the manor culture at Langeland as well as the explanation of why the estates are located to the east and the homesteads to the west. Skovsgaard Gods tells the inspiring story of Ellen Fuglede, who in the 1970s was the first in Denmark to preserve an entire estate on the basis of nature. In Lindelse we see Lindelse Mill and hear about the mill's restoration, and about the island's many former mills. We drive past * “Stribefabrik” * in Longelse — a former dairy that today is an export adventure — and at the same time hear about the challenges that many small local communities have faced. On the ridge towards Rudkøbing, the walk rounds off with the tale of the green tripartite and the work to give nature more space on an island where agriculture takes up the majority of the area.
